Vivas at the OGE Academy

03.10.2014

From 24 to 26 September, the first graduates of RGU’s Russian-based MSc programme “Oil and Gas Engineering” took their viva voce examination. The internal examiners consisted of the Head of the School of Engineering prof. Iain Steel, RGU Energy Centre manager Duncan Stephen, the course leader Laurie Power, and the OGE Academy Principal prof. Konstantin Fedorov . The vivas were also attended by the external examiners from Russian and international oil and gas companies.

Especially appreciated were the projects concerned with the design of the facilities for the fields in Pechora and Barents Seas, in which our graduates applied the acquired competences to Russia’s oil and gas projects. Evgeny Suchkov’s paper titled «Design of subsea separation module for the Dolginskoe type field in the Pechora sea» was nominated for participation in the 2014 SPE Russian And Caspian Regional Student Paper Contest, which is to take place 16 October 2014 as part of SPE Russian Oil & Gas Exploration & Production Technical Conference and Exhibition.

The degrees are expected to be awarded to OGE graduates at the end of October when RGU Assessment board takes place.
